Hardware vendorsThere are many different labels of wireless network equipment on the market. Many of these are Original Equipment Manufacture (OEM) products made by one manufacturer but labeled as someone else's. So the number of different actual manufacturers are far less than the number of labels available. Even less are the number of manufacturers of wireless chip sets, that is the main part of the wireless equipment that does the communications bit. Even so, they are numerous. Some of these manufacturers make both 2.4GHz and 5GHz chip sets. To keep an updated list of who's what on the OEM marked, would be to time consuming to include in this document. There are several recoursces available on the Internet that can give you an answer. Especially the community making drivers for Linux know much about what's inside the different PCMCIA cards.
