UNINETT AS develops and operates the national research network, which provides high capacity Internet connectivity to 300,000 end users located at more than 200 Norwegian educational and research institutions, connects them to each others and to international networks.

The company forms the core of the UNINETT Group, which consists of five companies delivering important national ICT infrastructure on a non-profit basis.

Nordunet and Canarie partnership establishes new trans-atlantic polar network connection

NORDUnet, a joint collaboration by the five Nordic National Research and Education Networks, CANARIE, Canada’s Advanced Research and Innovation Network and the NSF GLORIAD Project, are pleased to announce their new strategic partnership in the IceLink Project. (December 4th 2009)

Third generation GÉANT project launched

National Research and Education Networks interconnect with the GÉANT network to enable faster and closer collaboration for 40 million users. (December 2nd 2009)

Kalmar2 - one username across Nordic higher education.
Kalmar2, named after the historic Kalmar Union, was presented at the NORDUnet conference in Copenhagen on September 16th. 480 years after the dissolution of the first Kalmar Union, the Nordic countries join forces again - this time without guns or politics but armed with the latest technology for easing access to services while still protecting the users' privacy and personal data.(September 16 th 2009)
