Oslo facts

Oslo is the capital of Norway. Oslo is a town with half a million inhabitants.

The average temperature in July is 16.4 centigrades, with 18 hours of sunshine per day. The sun sets, and there is twilight at night, but it never really gets dark.

General information on Oslo

To/from the airport

The cheapest way to travel from Gardermoen airport is to take the "SAS Airport bus" -- it leaves relatively frequently. The web info I dug up is a little contradictory on whether it's every 10 or 20 minutes. The fare is 57 NOK. You can get off at the main bus terminal, and that is within a few minutes walk of the hotel (which is easy to spot, it's the tallest building in Oslo). With the bus you may get stuck in traffic.

There is also an "airport train" (FlyToget) which is a little more expensive (90 NOK), but it's quicker (33 min) and conceivable more comfortable. Outside of rush hours the train leaves 4 times per hour. You disembark at the main railway station ("Oslo S"), and as with the bus, it's a very short walk to the hotel. Tickets for FlyToget are available at the extreme right in the arrival hall at Oslo Airport.

Taxis are of course also available, but quite a bit more expensive (around 600 NOK).
